Italy: Drug report 2007

The last report about the use of drug in 2007 admitted that in Italy use of cannabis is increased.

Last year 32413 people has been signaled to authorities: 73% for cannabis,16% for cocaine and 8% for heroin and 26985 people has been arrested, more than in 2006

The use of cocaine is increased in 2006,but not in 2007.On the other hand, in 2007 use of cannabis is increased and 14 Italians on 1000 between 15 and 64 years old have admitted and 14% had used cannabis more than one time in 2007.

320000 people has been cared for drug: 205000 for heroin and 154000 for cocaine.

84,6% of Italians are against the use of every drug and 89,8% believe is danger.70% is worried and 80% is against the use of cannabis. More people are against cannabis respect 2006.

I believe real number of cannabis smokers is more higher, and not so many people (80%) are against the use.
Younger Italians, particularly, are less worried about cannabis.

I’m afraid in 2009 a new and more strong wave of repression will beat us…

Italy: It could be even worst…

In the new italian parliament there are no more “hemp friends”.
The government’s coalition is right oriented and prohibitionist. The biggest party (“Popolo delle libertà) is born by the fusion of “Forza Italia” and “Alleanza nazionale”. Alleanza nazionale ‘s leader ,Gianfranco Fini, is the co-author of the strongest antidrug law in Europe and in the “occidental world” and the other coalition party ,Lega Nord, approved this law.

The “left” party (“democratici di sinistra”,Margherita”,now “Partito democratico”) didn’t really try to change this law during the last 2 years of Prodi’s government (only a small and useless review, deleted not much time later) as was written in the electoral program.

Radical Left parties are outside the parliament and they were the only ones parties where someone declare himself against prohibitionism.

In the next five years, the Italian law could become only more strong against hemp and the recent controversy against smart and grow shop and the Italian fair “Cannabis tipo forte” are a clear signal of new way.

Skunk:a new danger?

Here you can read some articles about Skunk.

What is skunk?
Skunk “should” be a type of “super-marijuana”.
Recently,in Great Britain and now also in Italy;,many newspapers write a lot about skunk: the opinion is that skunk get you crazy, violent, oppressive, psycho, homeless junkye.
Skunk should be 20 times more powerfull, and in case of “unhealty and sensitive mind”,could cause mental illness.
It should be also genetically-modified.That is absolutely false.

Skunk is only a good strain of cannabis,is only “good weed”,not a crazy drug created in laboratory.

Barack Obama,Hillary Clinton,John McCain and Cannabis

Barack Obama admitted he smoked cannabis (“It was reflective of the struggles and confusion of a teenage boy” he said) and also sniffed cocaine and “appreciate that many physicians believe that medicinal marijuana can be helpful to some patients”.
But it was in 2006…..
Currently,Obama’s spokesman Tommy Viator said
“Senator Obama does not believe in legalization of marijuana, but agrees with President Bush that long minimum sentences for first-time drug users may not be the best way to occupy jail space or heal people from their disease” and Obama’s position is not so clearly defined.

Hillary Clinton said she’s against the persecution of therapeutic use of cannabis and,as president, she will stop the federal raids against patients.

John McCain said “I don’t think marijuana is healthy, I don’t think that it is good for people, and there is a large body of medical opinion that says there is plenty of other medications that are more effective and better and less damaging to one’s health to use to relieve pain. So I will continue to look at it on your behalf and many other young people who feel very strongly about it, but right now my answer to you is no”.
Senator McCain, interwiewed about therapeutic use,had answered “I will let states decide that issue”.
